Follow winding paths through grassland, riverside and woodland as you journey from range to range, each inspired by a different bird of prey. Every stop along the trail introduces a new shooting challenge together with a fascinating insight into one of the magnificent raptors that have inspired falconers for centuries. This is far more than target archery. It's an adventure through nature where every shot tells part of the story.

Every Range Has Its Own Character

Unlike a traditional archery range, no two shooting positions are the same.

The Falconer's Archery Trail features sixteen individually designed ranges, each named after a bird of prey associated with falconry. From the hovering Kestrel to the majestic Golden Eagle, every range presents its own unique challenge while introducing you to the remarkable abilities of these incredible birds.

Each range includes three target sizes to suit different abilities and confidence levels, while changing distances and shooting angles ensure every stop feels fresh and rewarding.

Whether you're discovering archery for the first time or refining your skills, every arrow brings a new challenge and another step along the trail.

Choose Your Flight

The trail can be enjoyed in three different ways, allowing you to choose the adventure that suits your group.

East Flight (Targets 1–8)

An excellent introduction to The Falconer's Archery Trail, perfect for first-time visitors or those looking for a shorter adventure.

West Flight (Targets 9–16)

Continue your journey through eight completely different ranges, each offering fresh scenery, new birds of prey and new shooting challenges.

Full Flight (Targets 1–16)

Experience the complete Falconer's Archery Trail by combining both flights into one unforgettable sixteen-range adventure.

Duration

East Flight – up to 60 minutes

West Flight – up to 60 minutes

Full Flight – up to 120 minutes

The Falconer's Archery Trail has been carefully designed so that each Flight can be comfortably completed within the allocated session time. At each range, every archer has the opportunity to shoot three arrows before progressing to the next challenge. As every group shoots at a different pace, we encourage participants to keep a steady flow around the trail to ensure they experience every range within their booked session.

Group Size

Up to 4 participants for East Flight or West Flight. Up to 8 participants for Full Flight.

Adult Supervision: A participating adult must accompany any group that includes participants under 18.

Instructor Led

Every session begins with a comprehensive safety briefing where your instructor will explain the equipment, demonstrate safe shooting techniques and introduce you to The Falconer's Archery Trail before escorting your group to the first range.

Each archer is equipped with three arrows and, at every range, has the opportunity to shoot before progressing to the next challenge. Your instructor will ensure everyone is confident to begin before allowing your group to continue the trail independently.

As you make your way through the Flight, an instructor will remain nearby should you need assistance or have any questions, while allowing your group the freedom to enjoy the experience together. This balance of guidance and independence allows you to enjoy the experience at your own pace while keeping your Flight progressing smoothly from one range to the next.

Accessibility

The Falconer's Archery Trail follows natural woodland paths and includes uneven terrain, narrow sections and natural obstacles, which currently prevent wheelchair access.
